| What is Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)? | |

How IPL Removes Hair: Hair Growth Cycle: there are three main phases of an individuals hair growth cycle. 1) Anagen- Growth Phase- About 85 percent of the hair on your head is in the growing phase as compared to 65 percent on your face and about 30 percent below the neck. This phase can last anywhere from 3 to 5 years. 2) Catagen- Transitional Phase- When the anagen phase ends the hair enters the Catagen phase which can last about one or two weeks. During this transitional phase, the hair follicle shrinks and the root is diminished allowing the dermal papilla to break away and rest below the scalp. 3) Telogen - Resting Phase- After the catagen phase, hair goes into a resting phase known as telogen. This period can last about five to six weeks. At the end of this phase the hair follicle re-enters the growth cycle. The dermal papilla and the base of the follicle join together again and a new hair begins to form.This is the reason that there is a need for multiple treatments because at any given time only a limited amount of hairs are in the Anagen stage. |
